These posters are for different events in San Diego, two are for the SDSU School of Music and Dance,
and the other is for a Thursday Night Thing (TNT) poetry-reading event at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.

The typography-based Indicate poster features minimal design elements,
only playing with three colors and text, and free of all other graphic elements to keep the emphasis on the logotype. I wanted the logotype to carry on the feeling for the whole poster, and set the direction for how the viewers will see the elements.

The Traditions poster concept stems from the composer Percy Grainger’s musical piece and his love of Australian wildflowers. I represented the
flowers in a more geometric form, with one of its petals featuring a metallic surface to hint at the musical instruments. The arrangement of the
flowers within the poster mimics their natural movement on a windy day at the fields. It also helps lead the audience’s eye to the concert information.
The background is kept dark to help accentuate the geometric flowers.

Modern Voices is another music concert by the SDSU Wind Symphony. For this poster, I went back to the basics. I drew my inspiration from the fast and upbeat tone of the music. I started out with simple triangles and gathered them into a ball to make the main design element. The transparency and overlapping of the triangles create depth and interest to the two dimensional shapes. The circle suggests the continuous flow and rhythm of the music, while the sharp points of the triangles represent the sudden changes in the songs. The colors are bright and vibrant, to communicate the
techno feel of the concert. The typeface Futura mimics both the triangles and the bigger ball through its pointed edges and rounded look.
